“I have been trying to develop a meditation practise for years using apps such as Headspace but have never quite managed to stick to it. This all changed with Addicted to Being.
I found it so helpful to have Belinda guide me through the different types of meditation practises and really take the pressure off the expectations to have an empty mind. In this way I really relaxed into the exercises and found myself really benefiting from them so much so I wanted to add them into my daily routine!
Belinda’s combination of music, breathwork and even shaking made the different meditations really fun too!

FAQs
What is Meditation?
Meditation techniques prepare us to slow down, relax and become more aware all at the same time. This is sometimes referred to as tuning into the meditation bandwidth – the place where you access that sweet spot of your being and meditation just flows.
Meditation allows us to get to the space behind our thoughts and emotions and access a deeper awareness within us. It’s about connecting to our core essence. When we don’t feel connected to this, we often feel like there’s something missing in life for us.
Is this course for beginners for advanced meditators?
This a foundational course covering everything from posture and setting up a space so perfect for beginners, but also goes into why and how certain techniques work so you have a deeper understanding of what meditation is. Many intermediate meditators and yoga teachers have done the course and found it very beneficial. If you have any specific questions you can get in touch via our enquires form.
How much time will I need to get the most out of it?
If you do 1 session a week you need around 15minutes to watch the video and take in what is shared. The meditation practices start at 10minutes and go up to 20minutes, so you’ll need 10-20 minutes a day for your meditation practice.
What kind of meditation do you teach?
The course is not based around 1 lineage or 1 type of meditation but rather a fusion of techniques that are effective for the reduction of thoughts, aiding relaxation, balancing the hemispheres of the brain, activating your heart centre. The combination of techniques is really effective at helping to prime you for meditation where you learn overtime to let go of the technique and just be. All the techniques are also very use for many situations in day to day life to help reduce thought loops and overthinking, to release tension and to find your creative flow.
What benefits are there from meditation?
Meditation allows us to relax, come out of thought loops, be more creative, feel less stressed. Studies have shown that people who meditate regularly are able to come back to their still point through the day far more easily than the people who do not meditate. Meditation also allows us to slow down and help create space for better decision making and feeling more aligned with the choices we make in life.
How do I know if meditation is right for me?
Like many things in life often we don’t know about something until we really try it. There are many different styles of meditation. What we share are tools on how to create space from thoughts, how to increase your window of tolerance through mindfulness, and how to go deeper than that to connect to your core awareness. What we share is not one ‘style’ of meditation, but carefully selected techniques that we think go well together in creating a simple yet effective meditation. You can read through the course outlines for more information to see if the course resonates.
How does meditation relate to therapy and do I need to do both?
We offer both meditation and psychotherapeutic counselling at Listen Up Therapy Ltd. There is no obligation to use both of these practices. Your meditation classes and courses are not a replacement for therapy. Therapy sessions are not going to teach you meditation. Our experience has shown us that both of these practices can be extremely complementary to each other, however it is your choice whether you decide to use both practices.
Are there risks?
Meditation is about creating a relationship with ourselves on a deeper level. Often in the deeper relaxed states our bodymind may release repressed memories or emotions which is part of the bodymind ‘digesting’ things we didn’t have time to process. This is normal and healthy, but it can be the case that something surfaces that you may want the support of a therapist to help you move through it.
How long is the meditation course?
The meditation course is 6 weeks long. There are 7 sessions, but one is introductory so you can do the first 2 sessions together, and then progress with one session per week. You can access the course for longer, so you can go at a slower pace if necessary and also revisit it anytime.
Can I get one to one meditation teaching?
Yes. If you’d prefer to work with someone, one to one, about finding a bespoke meditation practice or to have the chance to be able to ask questions and work through blocks and difficulties you have, we do offer this.
