The Profoundness of Breathing

Follow the tips and listen to the audio below. This in itself is a simple yet amazing practice. Often our minds prefer more complex, more sophisticated activities. Sitting, breathing and being with yourself is far more profound in creating a deep awareness and relationship with yourself.

This simple practice can be done first thing in the morning, before a therapy session, or when ever you have time - but committing to the practice regularly is most likely to yield the best results.

Reset Your Nervous System…

We can think our way into stress, but not think our way out.

However we can breathe our way out. Breathing regulates our nervous system and can shift us out of the stress response.

Breathing into the belly is a signal to the body that you’re at rest and not in any ‘danger’ ie no Saber Tooth Tigers lingering near you (as when you’re running from them your abs are engaged and belly breathing is not possible!) That is how our nervous system is designed.

When our bodies enter into a state of rest, a reset happens and deep cellular healing happens on a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual level.

Just for today…

When we focus on trying to sit still and breathe for 10minutes, or keep that up every day for 40 days, it might feel like too much.

But when we break things down to ‘just for this moment’ we can land in that moment so much easier.

One moment we know we can do. Then we allow that moment to naturally flow into the next..

This wisdom is used by Reiki Masters and the 12 Step Program and is profoundly simple and works.

Journalling…

What’s coming up for you when you breathe?

There could be important insights.

There might be connections made, realisations happening.

Writing out what comes up is profound. It creates a deeper intimacy with yourself and learning to listen to the wisdom of your body.
